The past several months we have had vacation, holidays, breaks, and an entire revamp of our school days and classroom. The past few months we have been doing a few science projects (marshmallow shooters, crystal growing), We have started our yearly gardening. The girls are even in charge of their own plants (potatoes, flowers). We have been working on crafts (learning to chain crochet, making paper dolls). The girls have worked on writing/drawing stories, as well as telling their own stories. The girls are spending a lot of time practicing for their ballet recital.
Starting Tuesday 5 July 2011, our 2011-2012 school year will begin. This blog will be updated on several levels. We will have a weekly lesson plan outline, as well as photos of our daily activities and events.
We hope that you will enjoy watching us learn as much as we enjoy learning.

Picture day!!
In Messy Science, Charlie made a baby bird out of died cotton balls, crunchy noodles, paper, jelly beans, and glue.
In World Cultures, they finished their discussion on Ireland and started Italy.
In Social Studies through Literature, they read books. One was The Golden Rule.
In Choir, they played a music note game. She told Mommy how to clap a few different notes (whole note, 1/4 note, 1/2 note).
In Gym, the class played a pirate game!

Charlie went to school!
In World Cultures, she made a leprechaun hat.
In Messy Math, she had an adding goldfish project.
For World Cultures, she wrote a page about herself and pasted the face she made last week to the top.
For Choir, they sang.
In Gym, they played club house...a bowling/soccer game.
McKenzie and Mommy went to a meeting and open house at the park, then to the farmer's market.

Charlie had school!! Kenzie and Mommy went and helped out at lunch time. Kenzie got to eat lunch with Sissy and play out at recess with the kiddos. Charlie was very surprised, as it wasn't planned for us to be there. Kenzie was very sad when it was time to leave, she wanted to go to school like Sissy does.
For World Cultures, Charlie learned about Ireland. She made the Ireland flag, and a pot of gold and rainbow door hanger.
In Messy Science, she made a coffee filter flower, and learned about Chromatography.

In Messy Math, Charlie did graphing with Jelly Beans.
In World Cultures, they had a party...in Germany! Charlie learned how to say a German word, but does not know what it means. She made a hat as well.
In Social Studies, she finished a face...not sure what it is for.
In choir they sang a yawn song.
In gym, they played tunnel tag.

Charlie had her first "real" day of school. Mommy and McKenzie dropped Charlie off at 8:45. Mommy cried, after Charlie refused to give her a kiss, and turned Mommy's face to kiss her cheek!
Charlie told us what she learned about:
they finished their passport in World Cultures,
Made Gloop in Messy Science,
Discussed the colors of the world (green grass, blue skies, white clouds, and how some people are dark and some people are light),
She also has choir.
In Gym, they were pencils, unsharpened pencils, so they could not poke anyones eyes.
McKenzie and Mommy spent the day playing and napping!
At 3 :15, we finally got to pick Charlie up from school.

Charlie had her first day of school. This was an orientation day, so Mommy got to spend the day with her. We had a surprise when the instructor came up to us and told us it was a full day, because they moved her up to first grade!
Charlie made AB and ABC patterns in Messy Math.
She made a Passport in World Cultures, where they discussed; other country names, our country name, our continent, as well as the number of continents.
She then went to Social Studies through Literacy, where they discussed; laws, rules, etc.
Charlie then went to Chior, where they discussed and practiced crescendos and decrescendos.
She went to gym and made a snake and practiced moving as one whole snake, made of 22 kids! They worked on teamwork and tried keeping a ball in the air with a bed sheet.

We went to Charlie's "school", and local program for homeschoolers, and had a picnic and received a bit of information.
